Eventbrite - CS Presents... I Wish I'd Done That

When was the last time you saw a piece of work and thought fuck me, that’s good – I wish I had done that?  Was it in the last 12 months? Or is it becoming harder with the fragmention of media and an evolving audience to produce work that really stands out?  We revisit F**K That’s Good and our speakers will choose the piece of work from the last year they wish they had done alongside their favourite piece ever.   In doing so we explore how the industry is changing and whether it is harder to produce work that truly surprises.

Flo Heiss, Creative Partner, Dare
Nicky Bullard, Executive Creative Director, LIDA/M&C Saatchi
Bo Hellberg, Executive Creative Director
Jon Burkhart, Founder, TBC
Simon White, Founder, Formation London

Flo Heiss, Creative Partner, Dare

Bavarian born Flo studied graphic design and art at the FH Augsburg in Germany, at the I.S.I.A Urbino in Italy and at the Royal College of Art in London.  Flo was DARE’s founding Creative Director and one of Campaign’s top ten creative directors in 2003, 2006 and 2008. Under his creative leadership DARE has picked up numerous awards including Campaign’s Digital Agency of the Decade in 2010, Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies in 2010, Creativity magazine A-List in 2011 and Induction to the Brand Republic Hall of Fame in 2011.

He was named in Creativity Magazine’s Top 50 List of category defining innovators alongside Aaron Koblin and Dave Droga.  In September 2014 he brought his unique creative flair back into the main agency fold after a year or so of running his affiliated creative ideas company, StudioHeiss.

Nicky Bullard, Executive Creative Director, LIDA

Nicky Bullard use

Nicky has spent the last 20 years writing across every discipline.  Now Executive Creative Director at Direct agency LIDA, she has helped strengthen the agency’s creative reputation both at home and abroad.  A fierce champion of the Direct discipline, Nicky has had the honour of judging many shows including D&AD (she was last year’s Direct Foreman), Creative Circle (she is this year’s Direct Foreman), and the Caples to name but a few.

She’s also picked up quite a few shiny objects along the way, but passionately believes that awards are the happy consequence of brilliant work, and work created for awards isn’t work.

In the last twelve months, Nicky’s agency LIDA has held events and debates, and Nicky herself has written many articles, about the blurring of lines in the Direct space; challenging whether this is a positive and celebrating great Direct work from around the world.  Nicky’s inspiration doesn’t come from the obvious places, but from her kids.   They just want to play.  And are utterly fearless.

Bo Hellberg, Executive Creative Director

Growing up in rural Sweden was a toughening experience. Along with many vigorous physical activities (shooting fluffy animals and arm wrestling flaxen-haired Helgas), Bo discovered a love of literature and a flair for wordsmithery and decided to build his career in advertising.  He has worked at agencies including Ogilvy, DDB, Brave and Hey Human and has numerous awards and finalists ranging from Epica and New York Festivals to DMA, D&AD and Cannes. Jon Burkhart, Founder, TBC

Jon is co-author of Newsjacking: The Urgent Genius of Real-time Advertising and founder of content marketing consultancy TBC London where he partners with brands and agencies to create BALLSY content – “Balanced, Actionable, Long-term, Likeable, Surprising and You-centric”?  In 2010, he co-founded the world’s first blog dedicated to real-time and reactive creativity UrgentGenius.com. He currently sets up “newsrooms” and leads content strategy and content creation workshops for brands and agencies.  Jon gives keynote speeches on content trends and speaks at conferences like South By Southwest Interactive (SXSW) where he now serves on the Advisory Board.  In 2013 at SXSW, he launched Millennial Mentoring, a programme where digital natives mentor CEOs. Previously, Jon was social creative director at Iris Worldwide, where he worked for the likes of BBC Comedy, Adidas and Philips. [email protected]

Simon White, Founder, Formation London

A man fuelled by coffee and the internet, Simon has been doing digital things since the web could barely accommodate images. Which is handy, as he started out as a copywriter. Since then he’s completed a number of internet firsts for the likes of Sony, Audi, John Lewis, Samsung and RBS. Now working as a consultant across a number of creative and strategic disciplines, he also dabbles in a variety of side projects that involve balloons, storytelling, and charitable concerns (not all at the same time). Oh, and if you want an opinion, Simon is happy to offer one.  [email protected]

Eventbrite - CS Presents... I Wish I'd Done That

Big thanks as always to our partners:

Because Source LF are all about Connected People, Connecting People, Creative Social is the perfect event to sponsor as people can network whilst benefiting from leading industry knowledge. To help conversation flow, our friends at Source LF will also be sponsoring the bar.

We would also like to say a special thanks to our venue partners DigitasLBi for providing us with ‘The home of Creative Social Presents..’ a top notch venue for creative thinking.

Please note: This event is for agency folk and students only

Because of the age and design of the DigitasLBi building (a former brewery), we are unable to accommodate wheelchair users at our events. The escape routes from our basement are all vertical and require a level physical mobility when used in the event of a fire or other emergency.

In the event of an emergency, we are able to provide those people with ambulant mobility with assisted escape from one of the building’s emergency response team. However, where a person is a wheelchair user with no mobility, an effective and safe evacuation is not possible.

We would ask those with reduced mobility to contact us ahead of any events to ensure that we have the correct assistance in place in case of an emergency.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
